At the age of 18 she was brutally raped, strangled and left for dead. Leilani Kuter had survived a difficult childhood when a stranger knocked on her door in a youth hostel in 1992. The scars of this traumatic event stayed with her and when she turned 45 she decided she needed to face the past to allow her to move on with her life. 27 years after the attack Leilani decided to walk 27 kilometers every day for 27 days to find healing. Raising funds for other victims of gender based violence with her walk she also met many women who shared their stories with her. This is a story of finding closure. South Africa has one of the highest rape statistics in the world.
