After stealing a package, a reckless young man is nearly caught when a woman suddenly opens her door and, mistaking him for someone else, invites him to dinner just as another neighbor approaches. Drawn into an immigrant household preparing for the funeral of a teacher, he’s taken for a friend of her absent son and expected to deliver the final speech about the deceased.
