My Science Fiction Twin

My Science Fiction Twin

“My Science Fiction Twin” is a 9-minute AI-generated short film that blends original music, AI lip-sync animation, surreal visual transitions, and dancing. Inspired by “Emilia Pérez,” the most Oscar-nominated film in history, and a movie that unapologetically fuses hyper-realism with musical surrealism. That film made me wonder how I might explore queer intimacy, fantasy, and legacy through my own lens, using AI tools. That question became the seed for “My Science Fiction Twin.”

Created with Midjourney and Freepik (for imagery), Runway’s ActOne (for performance), and Udio (for music), the film dives into queer longing and artistic obsession through generative storytelling. Rhythmic editing, retextured choreography, and layered effects underscore a narrative that asks how technology refracts memory, desire, and identity. The title is drawn from an Elvis Costello song about a parallel self living a flawless, enviable life—a haunting echo of everything we wish we were.

Directed by Michael E Cole (USA)
