“How Was Your Day?” is a dark fantasy horror musical short featuring practical effects and creatures based on Filipino folklore. It follows a young woman struggling to save a creature who never wanted to be saved. It captures the loneliness of being in an unbalanced relationship, where effort is one-sided.
Synopsis:
A young woman named Dorothea finds herself tied to a chair in a black void, across from a sickly creature also tied to a chair. When she realizes demons are after him, she takes it upon herself to protect the creature and braves the demon-infested darkness searching for water to bring him back to health. After defeating each monster and saving him from dehydration, Dorothea is stunned when the creature wriggles away from her and heads back to the chairs they were tied to.
Dorothea now sits across a dining table from a man, silently eating his meal. He shrugs when she asks “how was your day?”
Knowing there’s no use continuing to try, Dorothea proceeds to finish her meal in silence.
