On the fictional tv show, “Tiger Tank” Eli Whitney presents the cotton gin with the hope that his invention will eliminate slavery by making cotton production so efficient that they could abolish the slave trade. Much to his dismay, the investors aren’t interested in creating an equal society, they’re here for one thing: money.
