Based on Flannery O’Connor’s short story, “A Good Man Is Hard to Find”.
Set in 1953, a Georgia family plans to travel from Georgia to Florida for a vacation. The Grandmother tries to persuade the family to go to Tennessee instead because she wants to visit relatives there. Instead of revealing her true motives, however, she resorts to subterfuge and argues that a criminal called The Misfit has escaped from a federal prison and is rumored to be headed for Florida, and she worries that they might encounter him on the trip. Her son Bailey and the rest of the family disregard her protests and they set off for Florida.
