A young girl meets a magical troll under a bridge. She fights to save his home until tragedy and prejudice endanger both their lives
A charming, thought provoking, coming of age fantasy that will challenge perceptions about your unhoused neighbors.
“Simon, the Poet Troll is remarkable as pure poetry, relying on the well-crafted characterization of its protagonists and diving deep into subject matters ranging from social isolation and environmentalism to war and prejudice in a concise yet impactful manner.
The cinematography is splendid and the makeup and prosthetics used to create Simon the Poet Troll’s true form are top-notch.
My favorite part is when Simon recounts an excerpt of Henry David Thoreau’s book “Walden,” expressing how war is not “good vs. evil” to Maria, but instead both sides tend to be good people fueled by their own selfless beliefs.
The film’s message is to try to understand someone before passing judgment.
I give Simon, the Poet Troll 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18, plus adults.” By Christian C., KIDS FIRST!
