Starting in the late-20th century, Manhattan’s Chinatown has served as a critical landing point for new immigrants. Today, it has the largest ethnic Chinese population in the Western hemisphere. GATEWAY TO AMERICA centers the recent protests against the new jail in Chinatown in a history of cross-racial activism and community building in America.
