On January 6th, 2021 a violent attempt was made by a mob of “American patriots” to overturn the results of a fair and thoroughly verified, hand recounted, U.S. presidential election. Many rioters claimed they were following orders issued by Donald Trump, then still U.S. President, to attack the Capitol, to fight like hell and force legislators to change the election results. The concept of “just following orders”, without regard for their legality or moral consequence jogged my 77 year old memory into the past and well…I wrote a song.
