Over the course of human history, music, a powerful tool of expression, gives humans the ability to show the essence of beauty through sound. Each note weaves a story about prosperity, faith, and the power of perseverance and dedication. The pipa is a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument. It is famous for its exquisite techniques and wide range of sounds. Although it is made of wood, one of the most perishable materials, Pipa has been standing firm over the course of more than 2,000 years of history. History is not just written records; it is also images and sounds. I am not only a writer of stories, but also an observer and listener. I hope to get a glimpse of Pipa’s history in its melodies, paintings, and inheritors.
