Centerpiece

Centerpiece

My short experimental film, Centerpiece, sanctions and affirms the ability to have one’s cake and to eat it all. Using the dinner party as a thematic entrypoint I explore how excess, debauchery, and spectacle can become a form of resistance to normative modes of consumption. What is the charge of an empty plate? The gendered implications of paucity and restraint? Can unproductive pleasure be a form of embodied praxis?
