Volume 2 of the series Before the Underground focusing on Harriet Tubman’s life as a little girl a.k.a Araminta, will show how she recognized and understood early on how the things being done to her during slavery were unfair and wrong. In this volume she defies her Mistress and defends herself without worrying about the consequences, some of the same attributes shown forth from her mother in volume 1 -Rit. Her strength and courage were a part of her long before she became an agent of freedom. This is just an example of many of how she faced uncertain punishment in the face of hate.
